Personal growth and living a purposeful life are really the essence of life and often comes down to self-awareness, self-discovery, aligning one’s actions with their true essence and having the ability to lead oneself.
Self-awareness plays a crucial role in the journey of personal growth. It uncovers our values, passions, and the unique gifts that we have to offer the world. By gaining a deeper understanding of ourselves, we can make conscious choices that are in alignment with our authentic selves.
Our mindset plays an important role in this process. But, what about our heartset? Have no doubt there is a relationship between the two and it may not be surprising to say that most people focus on mindset first, and maybe for good reason.
I learned a fascinating fact not long ago about how the heart is the first organ to form during pregnancy, at which stage there is no intellect (mindset) which only starts to form around the age of 3. Pre being born, and in our earliest years, love, awe, and truth is all there is. We gradually lose sight of this as we grow older and become more intellectually dominant. The modern world doesn’t help with this. Now, I’m not saying this is good or bad. I’m just pointing out what tends to happen.
While on the other hand heart set connects us back to love, awe, truth, and our true essence and represents our deeper emotions, desires, and sense of purpose. So, what would happen if we were to flip the switch and focus more on heart set, with the mind taking on the role of serving our heart set to turn our true essence and sense of purpose into tangible actions?
That’s the question we discuss in this episode, as well as how it leads to cultivating a growth mindset, embracing challenges, and harnessing the power of focus and determination to manifest one’s heart set in the world.
Our heart set starts with us, and then transcends us and moves to being about leaving a positive difference in the world and making a positive impact by bringing our authentic selves into the world, utilising and paying forward our passions, skills, and talents to serve humanity and uplift others. By doing so, we don’t only experience personal fulfilment but also create a ripple effect of positive change in the lives of those who cross our paths.
This is where heart-centred leadership comes into full power. We’re able to build community and are open to collaboration. This just makes life better because personal growth is not solely an individual journey but is enriched through connection, collaboration, and the sharing of our gifts and talents. By recognising our unique abilities, and using them as a way to serve we are living life through our heart set and true essence.
Initially, this isn’t easy, because we haven’t learned (or remembered) how to lead with heart. It often means stepping out of one’s comfort zone and embracing unfamiliar territory but then again so does all personal growth, right?
Leading with heart will help to push past perceived limitations with faith and courage, spark more energy, fulfilment, and joy and unlock your full potential. Remember, we’re not disregarding the mind. We’re using both, heart set and mindset together to embark on a transformative journey of self-discovery, and personal growth so that you make a meaningful impact on the world, and ultimately live a life of profound fulfilment.
