High-School Drop-Out to Vice President of a Biotech Company with a £1.6 Billion Revenue with Pradeep Sacitharan

About The Episode

I’ve never seen myself as a confident person even though I’ve been told a number of times how confident I can come across online. I find this to be interesting, appreciate the feedback, and am focused on continuing to improve my self-image and grow consciously. In this episode, I’m joined by Pradeep Sacitharan who delves into the topic of confidence and its relationship with failures and rejections. He begins by sharing how confidence is not something that can be achieved without experiencing setbacks or trying new things and believes that true confidence comes from utilising our talents and actively engaging in challenges and opportunities.

Intersections of Self-Worth, Self-Esteem, and Confidence

We explore how the concepts of self-worth and self-esteem relate to self-confidence, with Pradeep defining self-worth as the value that we bring to a project or business, while self-esteem is the belief in our abilities and accomplishments. Pradeep suggests that when self-worth and self-esteem are based on helping others and giving back, it creates a positive energy loop that boosts confidence.

The conversation then shifts to the importance of surrounding ourselves with the right people and how this is connected to self-worth, self-esteem, and self-confidence. Pradeep shares how being mindful about who we choose to spend the most time with is vitally important in our growth and development as it significantly impacts our mindset influences our confidence levels and has an effect on who we turn out to become. He reminds us of the well-known fact that we become the average of the five people we spend the most time with and that we get to choose who that is. With that said, we explore the challenges of dealing with negativity within family and close friendships.

Navigating Relationships

We discuss the balance between maintaining relationships with family members who may have a negative impact on our confidence with Pradeep making the excellent suggestion and again reminding us all that practising empathy, compassion, and gratitude while setting boundaries and being selective about the time spent with such individuals is often the best strategy. He understands that it can be challenging while emphasising the need to prioritise our own well-being and mental state in the process.

Our conversation then moves into the topic of whether we can actually control our thoughts and the level of influence we have over them. Pradeep shares his personal approach, which involves having clear goals and affirmations that guide his thoughts and actions. He is an advocate for and uses visualisation to help him achieve his goals and actively push away thoughts that do not align with his mission and purpose. Pradeep shares how this is a practice that takes time to develop and that the most important thing is starting with small affirmations and gradually expanding from there.

Expanding Consciousness Through Service and Growth

We also discuss the role of consciousness and its connection to self-awareness and personal growth. When asked what does consciousness mean to you, Pradeep describes consciousness as the understanding that everything and everyone is interconnected. He goes on to mention that realising this interconnectedness has given him a sense of awe in daily life. He encourages us to consider the idea that consciousness may be synonymous with love and unity.

Towards the end of the episode, Pradeep shares his willingness to help and serve others and believes that by focusing on personal growth and helping others, we can elevate our consciousness and make a positive impact on the world.
